This quote found me today:
“Why does God allow such warfare? Sometimes God uses the fight to strengthen muscles we’ll need at that next level if yesterday’s wimp is going to become tomorrow’s warrior, something has to happen today.”
– Beth Moore
I’m reading/thinking about that very thought “God uses the fight to strengthen muscles we’ll need at that next level.” A few years (OK, a lifetime) ago i was entrenched in1/2 Ironman training. It was a crazy long race (70.3 miles of swim/bike/run) of pure endurance. But to get there, i had to put in the training. i had a cool coach named Gail who would make my training calendar for me. i always dreaded those weeks labeled “build phase.” Build equaled PAIN and DISTANCE and resulted in GROWTH. i SOOOO longed for Coach Gail’s emails labeled “rest phase” but they were few and far between.
And so it is w/this life He has set out for us – the hard stuff has purpose. HOW could we be ready to endure if we hadnt trained and strengthened?
Yesterday’s wimp – tomorrow’s warrior.
Where are you right NOW? Build phase? Rest phase? What does He have ahead that He has/is preparing you for now/then? We dont always get to know…we can know, though, that if we keep building we’ll be ready.
And so, for tomorrow’s warrior who still feels a lil wimpy, remember, you aren’t alone in the build. Trust the Coach. Endure the process. Hang on. Don’t quit. There’s more beyond the now.
How have you seen Him build you up for the race you’re running today?
And, PSA…if some of your tribe is in the build, check in with ’em wouldya? Don’t try to rescue or fix, just listen…and maybe give them a gatorade.
